She was outside at the barn, halfway standing on the fence as she watched Jean roll out in the pasture, rather angry at the boy. She had just cleaned the horse, and there he was turning the little bit of white on his coat brown. She didn't even know why she called him an overo anymore. It was frustrating how every horse insisted on that. It never failed.
Sighing, she jumped down off of the fence, ready to be on her way back to go do whatever she had planned for the day. However, as she turned around, her eyes fell upon one of the barn's cats, and upon what he carried in his mouth. A startled yell escaped her mouth, and she jumped forwards, grasping the cat and forcing him to release the small robin that he held in his jaws. It was only a baby. "You poor thing..!" she mummered, gently picking up the baby and shooing the cat away. She had no idea where the nest was, so she couldn't just simply put it back. What about its mother? She honestly knew the pain of being separated; she wouldn't ever wish it upon anything elseāeven as small as a bird. However, as she looked around, she saw nothing. Her heart nearly melted as the bird let out a small, pained chirp. There was no way in hawk she was giving it back to the cat. If she set it down, it would either starve or be caught once again. Was there anything that she could put it in, perhaps? Doff carefully rushed back into the barn, searching for something. After a couple minutes of digging around through old things, she had found a small box and filled it with a handful of hay until she could find something softer for it to lay on.
"It's okay, little birb." she hushed, but flinching back as it opened it's mouth wide, chirping. It had to be hungry, perhaps there was something she could feed it? She wasn't gonna go dig for worms as her Plan A, but if things had to come to that, she would. She would have to find something on the way back to her home. Maybe some small seeds, but even then, depending on what type of seed, she would have to chop them to where the baby was able to eat them. This was gonna be harder than she intended, but that wasn't gonna stop her in the slightest.
